Jim Mayola - Assistant Director at the Carroll County Department of Social Services, has been playing trombone since the age of nine. A member of the Westminster Trombone Choir and a 5-year veteran with the Westminster Municipal Band, Jim performed professionally for more than 20 years. He has appeared on stage with such stars at Bill Whithers, Patti LaBelle, Percy Sledge and the 4 Tops. Jim has recently returned to McDaniel College for a second Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, where he performs in the McDaniel Concert Band, Under Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick, in the McDaniel Jazz Ensemble, under Bo Eckerd and takes private lessons from Dr. James Ryon. Chad Seymour - I was born in Carroll County Maryland where I continue to reside today. Inspired by my father’s musical ambitions, I began playing guitar and piano at a young age. I included many musical classes throughout my high school years and have continued to participate in a variety of private lessons. My musical studies have included Blues, Jazz and Classic Rock and Roll. I enjoy playing all types of music and collaborating with other musicians. Standard Delivery Combo was formed in 2005 when Jim Mayola and I discovered a common interest in performing music. I have made good friends and appreciate the opportunity to work with such incredibly talented musicians. Guest Musicians: Bass Guitar: Drums:
| Daniel Andrews - I am a Carroll County native and currently go to Westminster High School. I have been into playing music now for eleven years. The instrument I started my musical career on, though, was actually piano when I was five years old. But, when I reached the fourth grade I began to play the saxophone, which I immediately enjoyed. Sax is my true instrument, now, and I have made both the all-county and all-state bands for my classical playing. I love to play classical music, and all types of jazz as well. I started to play jazz right after my ninth grade year, and caught on much faster that I had imagined I would. I joined Standard Delivery in the summer of ’07 after I sat in with the band at a gig in Johansson’s. I knew Jim Mayola and Mike Mora from the McDaniel Concert Band, which I am also a part of, and they were kind enough to ask me to join. Some of my mentors have been Dave Duree and Dale Underwood for classical, and Steve Swan and Ron Diehl for jazz. I play all types of Saxes, piano, a little clarinet, and I am self-teaching myself bass guitar and drums. You will only see me playing saxophone at our gigs though. I plan to pursue music in my future. Paul Morales - I was born in Prince Georges county Maryland and currently live in Carroll County. At an early age I took a liking to music. In fourth grade I picked up the trumpet and fell in love with it right away. By ninth grade I found out about jazz music; it just happened that the jazz band in my school needed a bass player, so I decided to try it out. Ever since that first push by my band teacher I’ve loved it. Now I’ve graduated from Westminster High School (class of ‘07!!) I wanted to continue my jazz studies and was lucky to know Dan Andrews, who was already in the band, and told me to sit in one day. I’ve been with the band all summer and hope to be here for a long time to come. |
